Welcome to Cambodia Network Information Center (KHNIC)

.KH ccTLD was established in 1997 by Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications with the main purpose of administering the internet domain name space in Cambodia as well as the central point for the local Internet Service Providers and regulatory bodies to discuss issues related to the efficient administration of internet service in Cambodia. It is under the control and managing by Ministry Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia.

How do I go about registering for a domain name like http://www.mycompany.com.kh?

The term "http://www.mycompany.com.kh" is a URL (Universal Resource Locator). KHNIC registers only third level domain names (e.g. mycompany.com.kh) and not URLs nor hostnames (e.g. www.mycompany.com.kh).

You can register your '.com.kh', '.org.kh', '.net.kh', '.edu.kh' and '.per.sg' domain names with any of the registrars accredited by KHNIC or KHNIC.

 

What is a domain name?

A domain name is simply a textual address by which anyone can find your host machine on the Internet.

 

Which organisations are eligible to register a domain name under .KH?

The .KH domain is organized as follows:

  • com.kh - This category is for commercial entities which are either registered or are about to be registered with Ministry of Commerce (MOC) or any professional body. A foreign company which is not so registered may only apply for such domain name if it has a representative in Cambodia, which shall be a legal entity that is similarly registered by any of the afore-mentioned organizations, and is duly authorized by the foreign company to apply for the registration of the domain name.
  • net.kh - This category is for network providers and info-comm operators in Cambodia. Applicants for names under this category must be info-comm operators or network providers in Cambodia for example those processing a valid license issue by Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
  • org.kh – This category is for organization which are either registered or are about to be registered with the Ministry of Interior.
  • gov.kh – This category is for government organizations. Applicants for domain names under this category must be members of the Cambodia Government, which includes Ministries, Department of Ministry, and Government’s Project.
  • edu.kh – This category is for educational institutions. Applicants for domain names under this category must be educational institutions registered with the ministry of education youth and sport of Cambodia. Applicants not so registered will need to be entities providing courses/training that lead to certifications/qualification recognized by a government authority or entities whose courses/training receives support from a relevant government authority/institution in Cambodia.
  • per.kh – This category is for the registration of personal domain names.
